This is the best party appetizer dip you will make. You get a creamy, tangy feta spread, perfectly balanced with a sweet and spicy hot honey drizzle and crunchy pistachios. It is a simple appetizer idea that always impresses guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces good quality feta cheese, crumbled
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • For Topping: 2 tablespoons hot honey (or regular honey mixed with a pinch of cayenne pepper)
  • For Garnish: 1/4 cup shelled pistachios, roughly chopped
  • For Garnish: Fresh thyme leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the crumbled feta cheese, softened cream cheese, Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, and black pepper into the bowl of a food processor.
  2. Process the mixture until it becomes completely smooth and airy. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides of the bowl several times. This usually takes 2 to 3 minutes to achieve a truly creamy texture.
  3. Taste the dip and add a small pinch of salt if your feta is not salty enough, though usually it is sufficient.
  4. Transfer the whipped feta dip to a shallow serving bowl. Use the back of a spoon to create a slight well or swirl on the surface.
  5. Drizzle the hot honey evenly over the top of the dip.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped pistachios and fresh thyme leaves over the honey. Add a final small drizzle of olive oil around the edges for presentation.
  7. Serve this easy whipped dip immediately with warm pita bread, crackers, or fresh vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • You can make this make ahead party dip up to 2 days in advance. Store it covered in the refrigerator and allow it to sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes before serving to soften slightly.
  • If you do not have hot honey, mix 2 tablespoons of regular honey with 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper.
  • For a savory variation, skip the honey and top the dip with chopped Kalamata olives and sun-dried tomatoes instead.
