Make a comforting, cheesy pasta casserole using frozen ravioli instead of traditional noodles. This easy ravioli lasagna shortcut delivers classic lasagna flavor with minimal prep time, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (24 ounce) package frozen cheese ravioli
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder until combined. This is your cheese layer.
  3. Spread about 1 cup of marinara sauce evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  4. Arrange half of the frozen ravioli in a single layer over the sauce. Do not thaw the ravioli first.
  5. Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture evenly over the layer of ravioli.
  6. Spoon half of the remaining marinara sauce over the ricotta layer. Sprinkle with 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese.
  7. Place the remaining ravioli on top of the mozzarella layer.
  8. Spread the remaining ricotta mixture over the second layer of ravioli.
  9. Pour the rest of the marinara sauce over the top. Add 1/4 cup of water to the remaining sauce in the jar, swirl it around, and pour this thin sauce over the top layer.
  10. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  11. Bake for 30 minutes covered.
  12. Remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over the top.
  13. Bake uncovered for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly browned.
  14. Let the ravioli lasagna rest for 10 minutes before you cut and serve it.

Notes

  • You can use ground beef or Italian sausage browned and mixed into the marinara sauce for a meatier version of this easy ravioli lasagna recipe.
  • If you prefer a slow cooker method, layer the ingredients as directed, cover, and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours or on high for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  • This dish freezes well. Assemble the entire casserole (do not bake), cover tightly, and freeze. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before baking as directed, adding about 10 minutes to the covered baking time.
