Make these easy Honey Garlic Chicken Skewers for a fast weeknight dinner or a party appetizer. The simple marinade delivers sweet and savory flavor when grilled.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Wooden or metal skewers (soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, ground ginger, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Place the cubed chicken into a resealable bag or shallow dish. Pour half of the marinade over the chicken, reserving the other half for basting and serving.
  3. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates.
  5. Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the prepared skewers, leaving a small space between each piece.
  6. Place the skewers on the preheated grill. Cook for 4 to 6 minutes per side, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
  7. During the last few minutes of cooking, brush the skewers with the reserved marinade for extra glaze.
  8. Remove the chicken skewers from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving. Serve with any remaining reserved marinade as a dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the marinade for a slight kick.
  • If you do not have a grill, you can bake these skewers at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes, turning halfway through.
  • These skewers pair well with rice or a simple green salad for a complete meal.
