Ingredients
Scale
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 clove garlic, minced
1 cup long grain white rice, uncooked
1 3/4 cups chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
Add the uncooked rice to the saucepan and stir constantly for 1 to 2 minutes to toast the grains lightly.
Pour in the chicken broth, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil.
Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan tightly with a lid, and simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand, covered, for 10 minutes.
Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, use unsalted butter and add 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder along with the salt and pepper.
If you prefer a richer flavor, substitute half of the chicken broth with water.
This recipe works well with Jasmine rice for a slightly sweeter profile.
