Make this quick, comforting creamy beef pasta for an easy weeknight dinner. This one-pot recipe uses ground beef and a rich garlic Parmesan sauce, ready in 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 12 ounces dried pasta (like penne or rotini)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned. Drain off excess grease.
  2. Add the olive oil, chopped onion, and minced garlic to the pot with the beef. Cook until the onion softens, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and add the dried pasta to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the pot, and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent the pasta from sticking to the bottom. The liquid should mostly be absorbed and the pasta tender.
  6. Remove the pot from the heat. Stir in the heavy cream and the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  7. Let the pasta sit, uncovered, for 5 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken slightly.
  8. Serve immediately. Top each serving with extra Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley, if using.

Notes

  • For a high protein beef pasta option, use lean ground beef or ground turkey.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, let the pasta simmer uncovered for the last 5 minutes of cooking time.
  • This recipe is a great simple supper with ground beef that minimizes cleanup by using only one pot.
