Make the best homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte, a copycat of the Starbucks favorite, using real pumpkin puree and warm spices. Control the sweetness and spice for your perfect cozy fall drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy alternative)
  • 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee or 1 shot espresso
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream and extra pumpkin pie spice for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the pumpkin puree, milk, brown sugar, and pumpkin pie spice.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until it is hot and steaming, but do not let it boil.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the hot coffee or espresso into your mug.
  5. Pour the warm pumpkin-milk mixture into the mug with the coffee. Stir well to combine.
  6. Top your homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte with whipped cream and a light sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free Pumpkin Spice Latte, use almond or oat milk instead of regular milk.
  • If you prefer an Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte, skip heating the milk mixture. Instead, mix all ingredients well and pour over ice.
  • To make a quick DIY Pumpkin Sauce for Coffee, simply increase the pumpkin puree and sugar slightly and simmer until slightly thickened, then store leftovers in the refrigerator.
