Make this easy Peppermint Espresso Martini for your next winter gathering. This recipe combines rich espresso, vodka, coffee liqueur, and cool peppermint for a sophisticated, spirited treat perfect for holiday entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Freshly Brewed Espresso, chilled
  • 0.5 oz Coffee Liqueur (like Kahlua)
  • 0.5 oz Peppermint Syrup
  • 0.5 oz Irish Cream Liqueur (like Bailey’s)
  • Ice
  • For Rim (Optional): Chocolate syrup and crushed candy canes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glass rim if using: Pour a small amount of chocolate syrup onto a shallow plate. On a second plate, spread crushed candy canes. Dip the rim of your martini glass first into the chocolate syrup, then into the crushed candy canes. Place the glass in the freezer to set.
  2. Chill your martini glass before mixing.
  3. Combine the vodka, chilled espresso, coffee liqueur, peppermint syrup, and Irish cream liqueur into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  4. Seal the shaker tightly and shake hard until the outside of the shaker is very cold, about 15 to 20 seconds. This creates the signature foam.
  5. Strain the mixture into your prepared, chilled martini glass.
  6. Garnish with three coffee beans placed in the center of the foam or a small peppermint candy.

Notes

  • Use strong, freshly brewed espresso for the best flavor and foam. Allow it to cool slightly before shaking.
  • If you prefer a richer, more dessert-like drink, use a chocolate liqueur instead of or in addition to the Irish cream.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, substitute the vodka and liqueurs with cold brew coffee, peppermint simple syrup, and a splash of cream or milk.
