Make a rich, thick pizza sauce in under five minutes without turning on the stove. This no-cook recipe uses pantry staples for an authentic flavor base for your next pizza night.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce (not tomato puree)
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar (optional, for balancing acidity)

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients. You will need a medium bowl and a whisk or spoon.
  2. Add the tomato sauce and tomato paste to the bowl.
  3. Add the minced fresh garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper.
  4. If you prefer a slightly sweeter sauce, add the optional sugar now.
  5. Whisk all ingredients together thoroughly until the mixture is completely smooth and uniform in color. This ensures the paste is fully incorporated.
  6. Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings if needed. Add more salt or herbs to match your preference.
  7. Use the sauce immediately on your pizza dough. This is a no-cook pizza sauce, so no simmering is required.
  8. If you do not use it all, transfer the remaining sauce to an airtight container and refrigerate. It keeps well for up to one week.

Notes

  • For a gourmet pizza sauce, use high-quality canned tomatoes, such as San Marzano style crushed tomatoes, instead of standard tomato sauce.
  • If you prefer a thinner sauce, add one to two tablespoons of water until you reach your desired consistency.
  • This recipe is naturally gluten-free and vegan.
  • This sauce works well as a simple pizza base for any crust type.
