Ingredients
Scale
1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices
1/4 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning (optional)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash, optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface. Do not separate the triangles; keep the dough in one large rectangle. Press the seams together gently to form one sheet.
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the entire surface of the dough, leaving a small half-inch border along one long edge.
Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Distribute the pepperoni slices evenly over the cheese layer. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, if using.
Starting from the long edge opposite the empty border, tightly roll the dough into a log.
Use a sharp knife or unflavored dental floss to cut the log into 1/2-inch thick slices. You should get about 16 to 20 pinwheels.
Place the pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch between each one.
For a golden finish, brush the tops lightly with the beaten egg wash.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. These are great served warm with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
Notes
You can make these ahead of time. Assemble the rolls, slice them, and place them on the baking sheet in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking. Add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking directly from the fridge.
For a different flavor, substitute the pepperoni with cooked, crumbled sausage or finely chopped cooked ham.
These make excellent freezer-friendly pizza snacks; freeze baked pinwheels in a single layer, then transfer to a freezer bag. Reheat in the oven or air fryer.
