Make this rich, smooth, and versatile creamy garlic sauce in just 10 minutes using simple ingredients. It is perfect for dipping fries, topping chicken, or mixing into pasta.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thinning)

Instructions

  1. Place the mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper into a food processor or blender.
  2. Process or blend the ingredients until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed.
  3. If the sauce is too thick for your liking, add water one teaspoon at a time while blending until you reach your desired consistency.
  4. Taste the sauce and adjust salt or lemon juice if necessary.
  5. Transfer the garlic sauce to an airtight container. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Serve as a dip, topping, or dressing.

Notes

  • For a Garlic Parmesan Sauce variation, add 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese during the blending step.
  • For a Cilantro Garlic Sauce alternative, add 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves with the other ingredients.
  • This sauce works well as a base for a quick Toum substitute; however, for authentic Toum, you must slowly emulsify garlic and oil.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to one week.
