Ingredients
Scale
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
Place the chocolate chips and butter in a medium, microwave-safe bowl.
Heat the heavy cream in a separate small saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer around the edges. Do not let it boil rapidly.
Pour the hot heavy cream over the chocolate chips and butter. Let the mixture sit undisturbed for five minutes to allow the heat to melt the chocolate.
Whisk the mixture slowly, starting from the center and working outward, until the dip is completely smooth, glossy, and uniform.
Serve immediately while warm for a fondue consistency, or let it cool slightly to thicken for a richer dip.
Notes
For a firmer dipping chocolate that sets when cooled, use only chocolate chips and a small amount of coconut oil instead of heavy cream.
This dip pairs well with fresh strawberries, apple slices, graham crackers, pretzels, and vanilla wafers.
If the dip becomes too thick upon cooling, gently reheat it in 10-second intervals in the microwave, stirring well after each interval.
