Make these rich, luxurious Dubai Chocolate Balls at home. This easy, no-bake recipe delivers a creamy, decadent treat inspired by Middle Eastern flavors, perfect for parties or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom (optional, for Middle Eastern flair)
  • 1 cup finely crushed plain biscuits or graham crackers
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pistachios (for rolling or filling)
  • 1 cup high-quality dark chocolate, melted (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ganache base: Place the chocolate chips, heavy cream, and butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir constantly until the mixture is completely smooth and melted. Remove from heat.
  2. Whisk in the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and cardamom until the mixture is uniform and velvety.
  3. Fold in the crushed biscuits and chopped pistachios until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or until firm enough to handle.
  5. Scoop the chilled mixture using a small spoon or cookie scoop and roll it firmly between your palms to form small, uniform balls (about 1 inch in diameter).
  6. Place the formed balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Chill them again for 30 minutes to firm up before dipping.
  7. Melt the dark chocolate for coating in a double boiler or microwave in short intervals, stirring until smooth.
  8. Dip each chilled ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Use a fork to lift the ball out, tapping off excess chocolate.
  9. Return the coated balls to the parchment-lined sheet. If desired, immediately sprinkle the tops with extra chopped pistachios before the chocolate sets.
  10. Refrigerate the finished Dubai Chocolate Balls for at least 1 hour to allow the chocolate coating to harden completely.

Notes

  • For a truly gourmet experience, consider adding a small dollop of pistachio paste or date paste into the center of the ball before rolling for a surprise filling.
  • To achieve a glossy chocolate shell, add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil or vegetable shortening to the melted dark chocolate before dipping.
  • If you want to incorporate the popular ‘Kunefe’ crunch, lightly toast a small amount of shredded kataifi pastry until golden, crush it slightly, and use it as the final coating instead of plain chopped nuts.
