Combine the comforting flavors of apple pie and gooey cinnamon rolls into one simple dessert bake using store-bought cinnamon rolls for a quick, impressive treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (12.4 ounce) package refrigerated cinnamon rolls (with icing)
  • 4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish or 8×8 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss gently until the apples are evenly coated.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish. Add the water over the apples.
  4. Unroll the refrigerated cinnamon rolls. Cut each roll in half crosswise.
  5. Arrange the cut cinnamon roll pieces over the top of the apple filling, leaving small gaps between them.
  6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbly.
  7. Remove the dish from the oven. Immediately spread the included cinnamon roll icing over the hot topping.
  8. Let the dessert cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a crispier topping, you can bake the apples first for 10 minutes before adding the cinnamon roll pieces.
  • Use a mix of apple varieties for a more complex flavor profile.
  • This recipe works well as a sweet brunch bake or a holiday dessert.
