Make this rich, creamy brownie batter dip that is completely safe to eat. It is a no-bake dessert perfect for parties, holidays, or any time you need a quick chocolate fix.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (18.3 oz) brownie mix (dry mix only)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 8 ounces frozen whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional, for folding in)
  • Sprinkles (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Heat treat the dry brownie mix to make it safe to eat. Spread the dry mix evenly on a baking sheet. Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Alternatively, microwave the mix in 20-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until it reaches 165°F. Let the mix cool completely.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until it is completely smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the thawed whipped topping to the cream cheese mixture. Beat until just combined and smooth.
  4. Gradually mix in the cooled, heat-treated dry brownie mix and the milk until the dip is uniform and thick. Do not overmix.
  5. If using, gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Transfer the brownie batter dip to a serving bowl. Top with sprinkles before serving.
  7. Serve immediately with pretzels, graham crackers, strawberries, or cookies.

Notes

  • You must heat treat the dry brownie mix to kill potential bacteria before consuming the dip raw.
  • For a from-scratch version, substitute the boxed mix with 1 cup all-purpose flour (heat-treated), 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  • This dip is best served cold or at room temperature.
