Ingredients
Scale
1 (12 count) package Hawaiian sweet rolls
1.5 lbs cooked, shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken works well)
1 cup your favorite barbecue sauce
1 cup shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried minced onion
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken and barbecue sauce. Mix until the chicken is evenly coated.
Slice the entire package of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the rolls connected if possible. Place the bottom half of the rolls in the prepared baking dish.
Distribute the BBQ chicken mixture evenly over the bottom layer of rolls.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the chicken layer.
Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese.
In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, dried minced onion, and garlic powder to create the butter topping.
Brush the butter mixture evenly over the top of the slider buns.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and the tops of the rolls are golden brown and slightly crisp.
Carefully slice the sliders apart between the rolls before serving hot.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a layer of thinly sliced red onion or a spoonful of coleslaw on top of the chicken before adding the top bun.
If you prefer a slow cooker method for the chicken, cook 2 lbs of chicken breasts with 1 cup of BBQ sauce on low for 4-6 hours until easily shredded.
These sliders are excellent served immediately, making them perfect game day food.
