Make classic, cheesy jalapeño poppers wrapped in bacon. You can bake these in the oven, cook them on the grill, or use an air fryer. This recipe is great for game days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large jalapeño peppers
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 12 slices bacon, cut in half crosswise

Instructions

  1. Prepare the jalapeños: Cut the peppers in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds and white membranes to reduce heat.
  2. Mix the filling: In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until smooth.
  3. Fill the peppers: Spoon or pipe the cheese mixture into each jalapeño half.
  4. Wrap with bacon: Wrap one half-slice of bacon around each filled jalapeño half, securing it with a toothpick if needed.
  5. Cook the poppers: Choose your method: Oven (bake at 400°F for 20-25 minutes), Grill (medium heat, turning often until bacon is crisp), or Air Fryer (375°F for 10-12 minutes).
  6. Serve immediately once the bacon is cooked and crisp.

Notes

  • For a lower heat popper, thoroughly rinse the inside of the peppers after seeding.
  • You can prepare these ahead of time and store them covered in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before cooking.
  • This recipe works well for batch cooking for large gatherings like Super Bowl parties.
